Fuel system---Fuel pump

Apr 30, 2024 FLIBEN Auto

How the fuel pump works?

The fuel pump is one of the basic components of the fuel injection system of an electronic injection vehicle and is located inside the vehicle fuel tank. Its main function is to suck and pressurize fuel from the fuel tank, then transport it to the fuel supply pipe, and cooperate with the fuel pressure regulator to establish a certain fuel pressure.

When should a car's fuel pump be replaced?

Difficulty starting the vehicle:

When the gasoline pump fails, it will become difficult to start the vehicle, and it will take several ignitions before it can start.

Engine operation is not smooth:

When the gasoline pump fails, the engine operation will become unstable and there will be jitter.

Abnormal noise:

The vehicle will make a buzzing sound while driving.

The replacement time of the fuel pump mainly depends on the usage and maintenance status. If the car is frequently driven in poor road conditions or used in high or low temperatures, the life of the fuel pump may be shortened. Therefore, it is recommended to check the working status of the fuel pump regularly to ensure its normal operation. If the fuel pump is found to have noise, oil leakage or other faults, it should be replaced in time to avoid affecting the performance and safety of the car.

Fuel pump fault detection and safety precautions

When replacing a fuel pump, attention should be paid to selecting a suitable fuel pump to match the size of the car's engine and fuel tank to avoid problems such as insufficient or excess fuel pressure caused by improper use.

After the fuel pump leaves the tank, the fuel pump should be wiped clean in time, sparks should be avoided near it, and the safety principle of "wiring first, then powering on" should be followed.
